8. Genetically modified organisms
Danish rules on genetically modified organisms are based on rules issued by the EU, including in particular Council Directive 2001/18/EC of 12 March 2001 on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms and Council Directive 90/219/EEC of 23 April 1990.
In Denmark, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency is in charge of the processing of applications for permission to use genetically modified organisms for production in contained areas, trial releases and marketing.
